FYI. According to this story in Le Devoir Réjean Bellemare will run again for the NDP in this by-election.

Easy Bloc hold. It’ll be interesting to see how the Libral-Conservative votes change.

Comment/commentaire by Tom 10.30.06 @ 7:21 am

The Green candidate is Marc-AndrĂ© Gadoury. We’re aiming for a second place finish in this riding and will put in a strong campaign. There are efforts to twin this campaign to Elizabeth May’s in London so that more effort than usual is put into these elections.

Comment/commentaire by Jan Schotte 10.30.06 @ 8:01 pm

Easy Bloc Hold… I am just curious to see who’s going to be second…

Comment/commentaire by David 11.03.06 @ 2:02 pm

Thank you Jan for Getting the candidates name up! I don’t think they’ll get second but a definite fourth or close third.
Bloc-40%
Liberal-21%
Conservative-15%
Green-15%

Greens would have got my vote easy (to bad im not a quebecer.

Comment/commentaire by Matt Casselman 11.03.06 @ 8:07 pm

Easy bloc win, Greens taking votes from all parties making it an extremely tight third.

Bloc 38%
Liberal 20%
Green 15%
conservative 15%
Ndp 11%
Cap 2%
Ind 1%

Comment/commentaire by Cindanne Gazilers 11.05.06 @ 5:22 pm

You people are WAY underestimating the Bloc vote. They had 62% here in 2006. Even though by-elections usual lose the incumbent party votes, the BQ is up on 2006 in this part of Quebec as the Conservative tide ebbs.

BQ: 54%
Lib: 14%
Green: 10%
Con: 9%
NDP: 8%
Others: 5%

Comment/commentaire by Tom 11.05.06 @ 9:25 pm

Yes, however have we forgotten that basically every Extreme conservative bloc would turn to another party considering that the bloc candidate is homosexual? that may effect that outcome slightly.

Comment/commentaire by Cindanne Gazilers 11.06.06 @ 4:03 pm

I am dubious that that will make much difference. Rural Quebec doesn’t have too much of an issue with Andre Boisclair.

Comment/commentaire by Tom 11.06.06 @ 4:26 pm

Landslide victory for the BQ

Comment/commentaire by Vincent Robidas 11.06.06 @ 7:51 pm

probably right vincent, but they will drop from the last election no doubt

Comment/commentaire by Cindanne Gazilers 11.06.06 @ 8:15 pm

There is always a drop for sovereignist vote between election. It is like this since 1970 so there is nothing different here. As I said, easy Bloc win, over 50%, but who’s going to be second… Check out the green!

Comment/commentaire by David 11.07.06 @ 9:22 am

that would be great if the greens finished 2nd

Comment/commentaire by Cindanne Gazilers 11.08.06 @ 6:38 am

To bad the greens aren’t running a candidate in this election!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its seems Marc was unable to give the papers in to meet the deadline. THIS IS A BIG BIG SET BACK

Comment/commentaire by Cindanne Gazilers 11.08.06 @ 3:38 pm

Since everyone does his/her own prognosticating, I’ll register the following (it’ll live to regret it?):

BQ: 57%
Lib: 17%
Con: 14%
NDP: 11%
Others: 1%

Comment/commentaire by ClaudeB 11.09.06 @ 12:42 am

No Green? All right, then:

BQ: 58%
Lib: 17%
Con: 12%
NDP: 10%
Others: 3%

Comment/commentaire by Tom 11.09.06 @ 10:31 am

From what I understand the Greens were given the wrong filling date. Someone should look into this…

Comment/commentaire by Ben 11.12.06 @ 10:51 pm

The greens were given the same filing date as everyone else it was on Elections Canada website when the writs was dropped, there is no vast conspiracy here.

Comment/commentaire by Wheeloffate 11.13.06 @ 10:46 pm

Does it really matter? Its not going to make a difference so lets talk about the candidates actually running, ok? I won’t bother because I am a political newbie to Quebec politics.

Comment/commentaire by Cindanne Gazilers 11.15.06 @ 3:28 pm

Lol why does everyone think the NDP and Green will do well? Both are barely factors in Quebec politics.

Comment/commentaire by Predictor 11.15.06 @ 9:24 pm

The NDP and especially Greens have made some slight inroads of late into Quebec. They won’t come anywhere close in any seats, but in a non-competitive election like this one you’ll see a lot of people voting for their first preference. (The Greens’ best province is Alberta and not because it’s chock full of environmentalists.) The added press the Greens have been getting over Garth Turner and London North Centre would also have boosted their vote here.

Comment/commentaire by Tom 11.16.06 @ 11:44 pm

This landed in my inbox through political channels, I don’t have a source but perhaps someone could track it down:

Green Candidate Endorses NDP

“The NDP is the party that best represents my concerns. The NDP is defending the environmental values that I would have campaigned on in this by-election.”

– Marc-Andre Gadoury, former Green Party candidate for Repentigny
by-election (translation)

Comment/commentaire by J Porter 11.24.06 @ 3:34 pm

No real surprise there. The NDP is the only represented party that has tried to do anything significant about the environment. Still, they won’t break 10-15%.

Comment/commentaire by Tom 11.26.06 @ 7:01 am

I am predicting a close Conservative victory … surprise surprise..!!!!
The conservatives are motivated 7 there is uneasiness about Gravel & the Bloc

Conservative 41%
Bloc 40%
NDP 9%
Lib. 7%
other 3%

Comment/commentaire by Bill Knapp 11.27.06 @ 6:48 am

Hummm predictions ?

Bloc : 45%
Cons : 24%
NDP : 16%
Lib : 13%
oth : 2%

I was in Repentigny yesterday… NPD campaign had a lot of visibility on the streets of Repentigny

I also saw a group of 20 cars with Cons. signs honking around the city all day… 20 cars x 5 hours… now I know why the cons say they can’t respect Kyoto…

:-p

Comment/commentaire by MG 11.27.06 @ 1:52 pm

Victoire facile pour le Bloc Québécois

Bloc 66,3%
PCC 18,7%
NPD 7%
PLC 6,2%

Comment/commentaire by Vincent Robidas 11.27.06 @ 9:48 pm

Conservatives the same, Bloc rises, the Liberals fall to 4th, NDP declines slightly. No real surprise, though I am impressed that the Conservative vote held up so well. (My guess is that all of those people would have voted Conservative in 2004, too, but for the impression that only the Liberals stood a chance in Quebec.)
