It’s odd that Mohamed Kassim is running as a provincial PC in Etobicoke North, given that the last time I saw him, he was going for the Liberal nomination federally in Etobicoke Centre.

Mohamed is a reasonably bright guy but obviously doesn’t care which riding he represents, which level of government he lands a job at or which party he’s running for. I don’t see my vote going to someone who sees elections as a one-person job creation project - his own.

Well I can understand why Mohamed Kassim change his party and why he choose Etobicoke North. Mohamed Kassim is someone who understands the needs of the communities that he wants to represent and is someone who beliefs being Canadian comes before any ridding and party and that is why he choose his current party after he carefully considered all the facts and decided the PC party will the party that can represent Ontarian the best and he choose Etobicoke North because after he talk to many people in the ridding he come to the conculusion that the people of the Etobicoke North wants a full time representation in Queens Park not a part time representation as the current ridding Mpp is doing as he is a part time Mpp and part time doctor. Another reason that make Mohamed Kassim to decide to run on Etobicoke North is that many people from Ontario, the Muslim community and Etobicoke North residents were shocked to hear that the current Etobicoke North Mpp using an abusive term to a female collegea Mpp of having a hot flashes which many people were disgussed to hear specially the Muslim community in the riding and in Ontario. WE will vote for Mohamed Kassim on election day as he will be able to represent the ridding and its inhabitants the best way and will represent them full time while not abusing fellow collegues on name callings. Already the residents on Etobicoke North showed their full support to Mohamed Kassim by voting on a highly turnout on advance polls votings. If we vote right together we can make promises matters as the current Ontario leaders breaks every promise he made during last election and together we should replace Mpp who don’t represent us full time in Quens Park and calls an abusive name calling to fellow collegue Mpp. On election day Vote for Mohamed Kassim and the PC party as the curent Liberal party failed to abide by the standard requered from a party as it failed to abide its own promises that it made on last elections and trying to make us fall for another false promises again so and I belief Ontario residents know better by know. Hope we make a change and sent a clear message to politician which tells them to abide by its promises and not to abuse other with name calls in one of our greatest respected house of Queens Park and other places. Your vote makes different make sure you use wisely and vote for change.

Dr. Kassim is not a “reasonably bright guy”, but rather a PhD, which makes him a damn bright guy. As for his changing parties, he gravitated to the Liberal Party because he had been told by many people that that party was more open to “new” Canadians than the other party. He had been encouraged to run in Etobicoke Centre for the Liberals.

He came to the attention of John Tory, and was contacted by the PC leader. Dr. Kassim soon found that he actually had more in common with John Tory the the Progressive Conservative Party than with the Liberals.

As for the comment that he is simply using government as a one person job creation project, that is sort of sour comment one would expect from a partisan Liberal. Dr. Kassim is employed as a university lecturer, and the salary of a MPP would be a pay cut for him.

If you want to make cheap shots, at least try to strive for some accuracy.

Touchy, touchy!

The reason that Mohamed didn’t win the Liberal nomination in Etobicoke Centre was that Borys Wrzenewskyj brought out well over a thousand supporters and won the nomination on the first ballot, notwithstanding that there were three other candidates in the race.

Borys having twice been returned by more than 50% of the voters, in what were otherwise two difficult elections, I guess the Liberal Party nominated a strong candidate.

So OK, Mohamed doesn’t win the nomination. What does he do? He switches parties. Now I’ve never much liked switchers, whether coming our way or going the opposite direction. And Mohamed is a triple switcher, having switched his party, his riding and the level of government he is running for.

Three years ago, he was such a committed Liberal that he wanted to carry the party’s flag in the election, was so passionately interested in federal issues that he wanted to sit in Parliament, and felt the need to represent the 100,000+ constituents of Etobicoke North.

Somewhere along the way, he talks to John Tory, apparently has an epiphany and now subscribes to Conservative ideology, cares passionately about provincial issues and is just as happy to represent a different set of constituents from another riding entirely.

I do grant that he is quite bright, though I would say that undermines your point about him needing a talk with John Tory to figure out which positions he agrees with. Given his PhD, you would think that he could have figured that out before running for the Liberal nomination.

So I have an alternative theory. He sought the Liberal nomination. He lost. He didn’t like it. He switches to another level, riding and party. So forgive me for thinking that this might be more about Mohamed, his ego and his career than about the good people of Etobicoke Centre.

Lastly, I am not sure how much of a pay cut there is from being a community college lecturer to being an MPP, so I will take your word that there is some, though it won’t be much. I would hazard to say that Dr. Qaadri, is giving up a good deal more income. And of course, Mohamed is free to continue lecturing part-time if he wishes.

Dr. Mohamed Kassim have a secure University and college lecturing posts where as being an MPP will not be a secure post and will be underpaid as you stated but he is doing this because principally he belief some one should represent the people of Etobicoke North fully and he decided to represent them. the same rights as every other citizen of Canada, this includes deciding which party to be affiliated. I belief every citizen have the right to view, review, analysis all the principles of a political party so they can decide whether to stay and support their current party or change political party if they see that they don’t have any values, principles and individual ideas with their current party but rather have with the another party. Dr. Mohamed Kassim even though he has run the Liberal nomination in Etobicoke Centre but he is a Progressive Conservative Party member now and there is a reason why he chooses the PC party. In the past couple of years many Liberal candidate, Liberal MP, Liberal Cabinet Ministers have switched to the PC party and so of those who neglected the Liberals and switched to the great PC party are named below for your record. First of all Borys did not brought thousands to the Liberal nomination go and find the results, second of all Dr. Mohamed Kassim learnt what the liberal party is all about when he run liberal nomination and it was then that he saw that the Liberal party have many areas of inconsistencies with his views, principles, ideology and beliefs and he found out that he have in common belief, views and ideology with the PC party especially when he sat down with John Tory the PC leader who explained fully what the PC party mean to the ordinary citizens and how the Tory leadership will lead Ontario in to prosperous and successful it was then that he decided that the PC party is the party for him. Dr. Kassim decided to support the PC party based on it is principles of justice, health, respecting promises made by politician as promises matters, respecting the dignity of others including fellow MPP or colleagues rather than calling others with insults and abusive name callings such as Dr. Shaafiq insult of fellow MPP that she was having HOT FLASHES for all those reasons Dr. Kassim belief by principles that the PC party that cares and will be the party that will be the best interest of Ontario.

As for the ridding you stated clearly in your report that Dr. Kassim ‘felt the need to represent the 100,000+ constituents of Etobicoke North’ as many in this ridding are not represented properly as their representative is not giving full time representation to it is constituency as the current liberal MPP of Etobicoke North is part time Doctor and Part time MPP and DR. Mohamed Kassim wants to represent the people of Etobicoke North full time and he passes your liberal idea of representing part time which you advised in your report that ‘of course, Mohamed is free to continue lecturing part-time if he wishes’ Dr. Mohamed Kassim does not want to lecture part time if he is representing the people of Etobicoke North he beliefs representation should be a FULL TIME NOT PART TIME.

On Election day VOTE FOR DR. MOHAMED KASSIM AND THE PC PARTY if you want to be represented full time, be heard, be listened, to be delivered what your promised then use your vote and sent a clear message to the Liberals that leaderships matters, promises matters and respecting others and not offending others with insults like HOTFLASHES matters. Fort your own record many Liberal part members and politician wswitched to the PC party principle when they were helding their seat or cabinet post and below are some of those honoured once who realised PC party is the party of Ontarion and Canada. Dr. Mohamed Kassim has our trust, our love, our support, and our belief and we will vote for him and the PC party on election day he will be the MPP of Etobicoke North.

John Bryden - Liberal MP, Lawrence Cannon - Former Quebec Liberal Cabinet Minister run as PC in 2005, Annamarie Castrilli - Ontario Liberal MPP switched to PC party in 1999,Anne Cools - Poverty & Housing advocate she was a liberal senator until June 8, 2004 when she switched to the PC party, John Crosbie - Liberal Newfoundland MLA switeched to the PC party, David Emerson - Liberal MP & cabinet Minister elected in 2004 for Vancouver Kingsway. Switched to Conservatives Feb 6 2006, Raminder Gill - former Liberal party member switched to PC party and now is an Ontario PC MPP from 1999-2003, Dale Muti - prominent Calgarian Liberal, and past liberal candidate, switch to the Conservatives in late 2005, Wajid Khan - 2007 - Switched from Liberal MP to Conservative MP, Tim Peterson - Ontario Liberal MPP for Mississauga South elected in 2003 and will run a PC party member in 2007.

Malik,

As a former Conservative and John Tory supporter, am dismayed to see the petty tactics you and the Etobicoke North Tories are doing here.

I have seen members of your team tear down my Liberal Qaadri sign off my lawn (that I requested) and replace it with one of Kassim’s. The NDP at least left the Qaadri sign when they put up one of their unrequested signs. Numerous calls to Kassim’s and Boudjenane’s office have gone unreturned.

Kassim’s deplorable performance in debates at my child’s school and on TV tell me my voting preference change to the Liberals was the right choice. Boudjenane and his team’s filling of the debate at the local library left a sour taste in the mouths of me and my neighbours.

In a battle of intellect and good ideas, Boudjenane and Kassim enter the ring unarmed.

Comment/commentaire by Fred James 10.03.07 @ 8:24 am

Fre James,

First of all I was always Liberal but unfortunately, when I saw the poor leadership and false promises of the Liberal party leadership and the immaturity of some of their MPP like DR.Shafif Qaadri who does not respect the people who elected him, does not respect fellow colleagues, does not respect women, does not respect the house he is speaking at and worst of all does not respect his own Liberal part’s and professional code of conduct when he told a fellow female MPP in Queens Park that she is suffering a HOT FLASHES I will assure you that I switched to the PC PARTY OF ONTARIO as I belief Principle the PC party is the party for Ontario. I belief it is time for Ontario to elect real Leaders who keep up their words not ones that give false promises on election days, it is time for Ontario to elect leaders who respect others not ones that abuse others and call them abusive name calling and that the Right party that will deliver the needs and leadership that Ontario need is the PC party Vote the right party and follow your true hunch and principle rather than following a false promise and leadership less Liberal party.

Secondly, I am not in charge of Dr. Mohamed Kassim’s sign posting team not am I working with the team as I am too busy with my lifestyle and work at this particular moment but one thing is for sure I support the PC party and Dr. Kassim team and the ridding is supporting the PC party and Dr. Kassim and that is why the Liberal are so worried and brought in the Etobicoke ridding their False promises ‘ father’party leader in the ridding more than twice in few weeks just to show support for his immature candidate who calls his cooleegues and felow MPP that she was suffering hot flashes and who continued not representing the ridings interest Full time but rather part time as he is a doctor party time. This shows you that Dr. Kassim team does not have the appetite to play sign wars with a fading & losing party and a resuscitate Liberal Dr. Shaafiq Qaadri who called his parties leadership to give him the ‘live support he neds in order to survive this election’ and his party prescriped him couple of doses of Liberal leadership false promises appearance to his ridding in ordeer to mislead the ridding, remember the people of Etobicoke are not so imature and can not be decieved again with false promises and that is why when they are voting they will look leader and quality and they will choose the PC party as leadership and promises matters to the people of Etobicoke North and Ontario.

Dr. Kassim speach and position compared with his opponent DR. Qaadiri one does not need to be a rocket sciencetist to see that Dr. Kassim stands out from the crowd when he speaks and he speaks and stands in better positions that matters to the ridding and Ontario than his opponents. SO I hope your Vote for leadership and change the party that is fame with the false promises making scheme during elections. Vote PC AND VOTE FOR DR. MOHAMED KASSIM IN ORDER TO SENT A STRANG REPRESENTATION IN QUEEMS PARK.

“It’s time to put an end to broken promises, weak leadership, and poor results.” John Torry. Vote PC party to change the status of Ontario and let Ontario became one of Canada’s leaders again as it lost leadership since the Liberal party get in power.
