Alex Yuan is the Ontario PC Candidate here. This riding was made famous by the Liberal sponsorship money going to the organization of the Liberal Candidate (Nuclear Scientist) in this riding. Ill be watching this one with interest from Don Valley West.

Comment/commentaire by Janice D. 07.11.07 @ 6:26 am

Whether the sponsorship issue has any major impact on election in this riding, I still want a voice who is from Richmond Hill, understand Richmond Hill, feel the pain of Richmond Hill’s famuly.

I do not want a voice who has no connection with Richmond Hill or every election, he shop around riding to run for MPP seat. Last election in Markham and this election in Richmond Hill. Where is next election?

David, be extremely careful when posting on democraticspace.com! You may want to check your facts and not just put of “misleading information”, in order to deceive the reader. Please do not simply post information for political gain, without checking your facts. If you are making a reference to a particular candidate, which I assume you are, he is from Richmond Hill and “understands” Richmond Hill residents. He also has an endorsement from “long-time” Mayor of Richmond Hill, Bill Bell (along with others).

http://www.alexyuan.ca/supporters.html
http://www.alexyuan.ca/about.html

Although, he may have run in a “by-election”, he is dedicated to Richmond Hill and can represent our riding well, if given the chance. Do not be ignorant and take some time to “learn”, or better yet do more research on all candidates. Unless of course you had intended or planned to be disingenuous when you wrote? I personally do not care of you are a Liberal, PC, NDP, Green or other; try to get your “facts” straight and not turn this website (democraticspace.com) into a ill-fated propaganda machine. Politicians may not top everyone’s list, but I would hope that democraticspace.com could be that “factual” place, in cyberspace, providing impartial much needed service to the people of Ontario.

Mr. Yuan bring his poor politic practice to our riding fom Markham. I think Mr. Yuan owes a apology to Mr. Hsueh and people of Richmond Hill for this tasteless practice and encouraging his staff to tear down other candidate’s sign:

Subject: Lawn Sign

Dear Mr. Yuan,

I was infuriated to arrive home tonight to find your campaign lawn sign was placed on my front lawn today without consent. I reside at 18 Remington Drive in Richmond Hill L4S 2N8. Is this part of your platform for election? If you see a Liberal sign, place yours beside it? A few of my neighbours are sporting both signs as well; is this a coincidence? Permission was solicited by and given specifically to your running mate from the Liberal Party, Mr. Moridi. Permission was NOT granted to have your sign present as well.

I am not impressed with these tactics of just randomly placing signs without my consent or consent of anyone else in this household. I do expect a written apology and the quick removal of your unwanted sign.

I have also Copied the Liberal and your running mate on this issue

Alex Hsueh

Mr. Yuan owes a apology to Mr. Hsueh and people of Richmond Hill and then select another riding, if Markham and Richmond Hill does not work out.

Robert

How unfortunate? Robert or Rober (whatever your name is), does Alex Hsueh know you posted this email online with his personal information and address, or is there some type of agenda at play here? You know Robert/Rober you really shouldn’t use this website in this fashion. It destroys the integrity of this site and what it is trying to achieve. I may not be a supporter of any particular party myself, but it seems that you are too “desperately” trying to portray Alex Yuan in a bad light. I also must assume that by emailing someone at York Region News the Liberals, in this riding, are attempting to start something in this community. It’s quite sad! Shall you fill the page with rants and do you think we are all unintelligent, unable to see through the obvious agenda you have.

Comment/commentaire by Devon 09.19.07 @ 5:38 am

(1) You have assumed that I am a conservative. (2) I always take acceptation to blanket statements like “you guys”, without directing that response at any particular individual (we are not robots). (3) I am sure that the people of Markham made their decision based on the facts and policy presented, not on innuendo and lies. Ontarians have enough intelligence to make up their own minds, remember every political party has had their chance at the job in this province. Try not make posts without substantial proof that a candidate is doing something wrong. There are numerous individuals who use this site to get, factual, information about various candidates. Unless your intention, again, is to deceive the voter into believing that what you say is actually true? But since you a true person of democracy, carrying the banner for all, then you must be right? Tell me, to what advantage is it for ANY political party to remove someone else’s sign and place their own, unless someone is just being a bit mischievous? Take some time to think about it, it’s not hard. Now if someone wanted to “start trouble” in Richmond Hill, for any particular candidate, making them look bad, then I could see intention. But then again, now I am making an “assumption”. That word “assumption” should sound familiar to you Mark, or Rober or Robert, or whoever you are, because you are starting to sound like the same person to me (sorry to make another “assumption”)? Propaganda is an interesting subject and maybe you should get your own blog to perform it. If you truly believe in the information, without seeing facts or understanding its ‘context’, then I guess you have already made up your mind in this election, and you are attempting to help make up every else’s. I know fiction sells but let’s stick to policy, not assumptions. We know this election is important, and the voters of Ontario are smart enough to make informed decisions, based on each party’s platform and record.

I was not impressed with Alex at the debate last night. He had no content.

I was impressed with the Green Party candidate and respectfull performance of Reeza Moredi.

Green is going to do better this time. But it is Liberal despite my wish.

Comment/commentaire by Josh Lee 09.26.07 @ 9:33 am

I thought Alex performed very well at the debate. Moridi was very evasive when asked about his connection to the Liberal funding scandal involving his organization. If you want to read more about it there is info here:

http://www.liberalslushfund.blogspot.com

If the people of Richmond Hill knew more about this scandal, Moridi would not have a chance of winning. He represents exactly why we have become cynical about politicians.

Comment/commentaire by Andrew 09.27.07 @ 5:43 pm

I have been a resident of Richmond Hill for the last 20 years, and have been a solid Liberal supporter. However from the debates I can honestly say that Alex Yuan has presented himself well. I do not agree with the topic of funding Faith Based schools, however I also don’t think Reza Moridi should have avoided the questions concerning the ’slush fund’.

Because of his lack of transparency that I might be inclined to reconsider my support of my party.

Comment/commentaire by Matthew 09.28.07 @ 6:32 am

Andrew:
Keep folollowing the Alex Yuan from Markham to Richmond Hill to some other riding. Hoping he finally get in some recognition. I tell you guys, you will not get recognition by tearing signs and posting junk on this site.

where is the next riding he will run? He really does not care about people. He goes to any riding to get elected.

Comment/commentaire by Josh Lee 09.28.07 @ 8:45 am

in the interests of transparency…

Malik, Naim_Malik, albert_chang, sue_sung, jacckie, josh_siato and John Lee are all posting from the same IP address.

Comment/commentaire by democraticspace 10.02.07 @ 5:15 am

It is with the greatest regret that we are forced to remove all comments by Malik, Naim_Malik, albert_chang, sue_sung, jackkie, josh_siato, John Lee, Josephine, Mark, Robert, and Chester_Rochard in the comments sections of the ridings of Thornhill, Richmond Hill, Willowdale, and Don Valley West. These are all from the same person. We consider this a blatant attempt to subvert genuine debate by fabricating multiple identities in an attempt to amplify their voice and creating the impression of consensus. We are committed to free speech, but such abuse will not be tolerated on DemocraticSPACE. We hope our readers will understand our position.

Comment/commentaire by democraticspace 10.02.07 @ 5:30 pm

I continue to support the Greens and Liz Couture’s campaign. As the Greens have pointed out since the beginning, this election should be about a new way of thinking. The NDP almost gets gets it — and Nella would make a fine MPP — but the Liberals and the PCs are yesterday’s parties. They are the parties of “growth” politics and they will always move too slowly to make the kinds of economic changes that must be made in order to deal with climate change, toxics, sprawl, habitat loss and dozens of other environmental problems. Remember, these are problems that decades of Liberal and PC governments helped create by doing nothing — or far too little — to prevent them. When Alex Yuan writes “Taxes, gridlock and health care wait-times have all increased in Richmond Hill” he demonstrates the typical old-party misunderstanding of today’s world. Taxes are not necessarily too high, but we are taxing the WRONG things. We should be taxing pollution, oil and energy to drive efficiency and conservation (potential high employment growth areas). Get coal out of the atmosphere and get most cars of the road and gridlock will improve — as will hospital wait times. Asthma was virtually unheard of among children when I was a kid and now it is almost an epidemic in Canada. Ditto for Type 2 diabetes. It is our lifestyle, our food and our pollution that is making us unhealthy. Of course, the Greens are for a well-funded, single tier, public health care system, but they would actually address the root causes that are making us sick.

Comment/commentaire by Rod 10.04.07 @ 10:44 pm

The Greens did not put up many public signs, but have tried to shift the focus to public debate and face-to-face conversations with voters. You can post a virtual Green Party sign on a Google map here, however: http://votecouture.ca/vsigns

I read in a chinese paper that one of Alex staff was arreasted by police for destroying NDP & Liberal signs.

Why this is happening in Richmond Hill?

Comment/commentaire by sherri 10.10.07 @ 1:22 pm

I am curious, which Chinese paper did that show up in? Or which edition, if you can please share. Thanks.
