Not really surprised that no one else posted here. Sorbara is going to win for the Liberals with an ungodly margin of victory.

I was shocked to learn from the Toronto Star that the Tory candidate Gayani Weerasinghe in the riding Vaughan believes there was racism directed at her in this election. I didn’t vote for her and it had nothing to do with race, or intolerance. It’s sad to see that some candidates will go to any length to secure the election. In this case Mrs. Weerasinghe was battered by the voters. Perhaps she will try and claim that 61% of the population was racists. Had there been anything to her claims why has the media not picked up the story beyond the Toronto Star. And why has the police not caught the 2 stocky italian men?

Shame, Shame, Shame.

For the record I never made the comment that there was any racism directed towards me. It was the star reporter who made those comments as a matter of fact he continually asked me whether there was racism directed towards me which I denied. I am disappointed that he would take it upon himself to make such a comment. For the amount of time that I spent in Vaughan the residents were nothing shy of welcoming with a few exceptions of bullying. I don’t believe that anyone should tolerated bullying efforts and I certainly did not. The irony of the situation is that the interview was taped with evidence that there were no comments made about racism. It is false comments such as those made by the reporter that potentially encourage racism.

According to the Toronto Star it was your press release that stated that there was intolerance and gave a discription of the people you say bullied you. If there was no racism you should get the Toronto Star to print a correction. I think you were chanelling an episode of the Sopranos in your press release Mrs. Weersinghe. As a person of Italian heritage this is what encourages racism.

Thank you for your response Mrs Weersinghe. If you feel that you were misquoted, then you should seek a retraction from the Toronto Star. However, my objection rests on the press releases sent by your campaign about “two stocky men from Italian Woodbridge” threatening you to get out of Vaughan. I think your campaign could be said to have been channeling an episode from the Sopranos. Stereotyping?
