Igor Toutchinski is the current Progressive Conservative candidate for the Provincial Parliament in York Centre.

In 1992, Igor co-founded and became the CEO of the RCB Broadcasting Company. Today, he is also the Editor-in-Chief of the popular local weekly newspaper, as well as the producer of the program “Mix TV”, televised on City TV. In addition, Igor is the host of the hit radio program on CIRV 88.9 FM.

Over 12 years, Igor has reported on controversial issues shaping our communities. In 1998, Igor reported from Israel on the political situation of the country. He met with the former Prime Minister of Israel, Ariel Sharon to discuss the circumstances of the Middle East. In 1999, Igor reported on site from the capital city of Russia, Moscow, on the horrific terrorist attacks on two buildings.

Igor has always promoted safety within the community. He met on a regular monthly basis with the former chief superintendent of the RCMP, Ben Soave, who would discuss the criminal activity with the residents. Preceding these efforts, the crime in the neighborhood had dramatically decreased.

Igor takes great pride and enjoyment in being an active participant in the community. He has been serving as a special counsel to the League of Human Rights of the B’nai Brith Canada, helping to fight anti-Semitism, racism and human rights abuse. Igor has also been a member of the JRCC and New Start, a non-profit organization in which he uses his personal experience to assist new immigrants. Every year, Igor takes great pride in lending a helping hand to Multicultural CHIN TV and Radio during the traditional Canada Day CHIN Picnic.

In 2006, Igor ran for city councillor in the Toronto municipal election in Ward 10, York Centre. He placed second amongst the seven contenders.

Igor is married to Maria with two daughters, Anna and Helen.

Igor speaks 4 languages and wants to contribute his dynamic personality to York Centre. He is determined to do his best in securing our way of life in Canada.

Please note this comment is in a series of comments by me. I’m doing a prediction for every riding. For this riding I’m predicting the Liberals will win.

Claudia Rodriguez is the ideal candidate for the NDP in York Centre. Her background includes advocacy for tenant and human rights through activism and representation. I had the pleasure of speaking with her about an issue I was having, and it was made clear to me that she has the passion and drive to touch the lives of many and take them under her wing at Queens Park. This riding needs someone young, full of energy and with a heart the size of hers. Enough with the traditional vote. I’m afraid that many of our loyal liberal voters are simply going along with the status quo and not being informed about the real issues that prevent our community from being great. Claudia said all the issues are rooted under a “diseased fertilzer that prevents us from strengthening the roots of this riding’s potential: Poverty”,,and so far, this is the only party I see that is planning for a cure.
