gary caldwell could pull this off as the Liberal meltdown continues, and Dumont’s message of being pro-active instead of goaltending reverberates throught Quebec, especialy this region.
Mr caldwell is a long-time, outstanding spokesman for Harper’s Quebec policy, long before it was announced.

Bloc won it on a protest vote last time. Now with the Conservatives bottoming out and David Price making a comeback, France Bonsant will likely be a one hit wonder. This is an eastern townships riding, where separatists never really got a foothold. back to the federalists goes this one. Given the choice between a Government member and a 3d party backbencher, it’s going to the former.

Who said that?

Please note WHEN I said that, sir. And now that the Tories have become THE federalist option in Quebec, and given the proximity to the Beauce/Megantic area, this is a prime Tory target. Let’s not forget under which banner Mr Price was first elected. My own knowledge ofthe region is that it is definitely not a separatist area.

Roughly 52% No in 95 – this isn’t Brome. Much will depend on turnout – federalists only turned out at just around 50% in 2004, BQ at roughly 60-62. Many are saying that they learned their lesson.

There is a very interesting site on Gary Caldwell.
We can learn a lot on his politics point of view.

M. Caldwell !

I Hope the federalist vote will all go Conservative to avoid the BQ to win this riding again. But it seems that even if the Liberals are down almost everywhere in Quebec, David Price still seems to be appreciated in Compton-Stansted.

I hope Bloc Québécois will win because it is the only party which really protects the Québec interests. Conservative party is ruled by many extremists, like Bush’s friends, from Alberta. They don’t respect the environment and will follow Americans like a dog follows his master. Liberal party is a party of crooks and they should be kick out. Unfortunately, NDP party, which is the only good federalist party, is too weak in Quebec. The Compton-Stanstead County has been redesigned a few years ago and now includes a large part of Sherbrooke municipality, which is very francophone. Consequently, the percentage of Conservative voters (anglophones living in out of Sherbroke area) is relatively low.
